If my teenager is away at college in another state, are they still covered under my standard auto insurance policy while out of state?
They are still covered in the usage of a vehicle that is already on the policy. If they’re using someone else’s vehicle, that is going to be partially dependent on the coverage of that vehicle. The other thing you can keep in mind is there’s also a discount for resident students. Students who are in another state or even within your own state but are at college not using your vehicle. That way you can actually get a little bit extra savings.
